African pastors and church leaders packed inside a large tent during EmPowered Living's theological training session in Kenya.
Hungry hearts gather under canvas in Kenya, where pastors travel miles for biblical training that will transform their communities

I wanted to share some incredible news with you before I board my flight to Kenya this Thursday.

A Miracle in the Making

Some of you are aware that I (Daniel) experienced a health scare recently. What began as concerning news has transformed into a testimony of God's faithfulness.

The initial CTA scan showed major blockages in my heart—news that could have derailed our Kenya mission. However, after Friday's heart catheterization, the doctors discovered the blockage was limited to just one artery. They placed a single stent, and remarkably, my cardiologist declared:

"You are released to go on your mission."

Another doctor even said:"

Your heart is healthier and happier now than it was two weeks ago!"

We're calling this what it is—a miracle! God's timing is perfect, and I'm cleared for travel with a renewed heart (both physically and spiritually).

Kenya Mission: What's Ahead

Our small team will be:

  • Conducting intensive training classes (Discipleship, the Atonement, & Evangelism) for pastors (as we do 2-3 times annually)

  • Checking on our feeding program serving 500 children daily

  • Evaluating our storehouse and local operations

Your prayers and support have carried us through this unexpected journey, and I'm more excited than ever about what God has planned for this trip.

Prayer Requests

As we prepare to depart, please pray for:

  • Continued protection, health and strength for our entire team

  • Wisdom as we teach and minister to local pastors

  • Protection over the children in our feeding program

  • Productive meetings with our local partners

I'll send updates from Kenya as internet access allows. Thank you for standing with us—in both the challenges and the victories.

With a grateful (and healthier!) heart,

Dr. Daniel & Mary Beth Gilbert
