Because of YOU, Pastor David Ouma is transformed from teaching mixed traditions to sharing pure Biblical truth in Kenya. Your partnership with ELIM Theological Institute equipped him to offer real hope where suicide and despair once prevailed. 'The people who listen to our teachings are encouraged and live overcoming lives.' This is YOUR impact in action.

In Kenya, where poverty, food insecurity, and traditional beliefs often overshadow the true teachings of the Bible, the EmPowered Living giving community, and Pastor David Ouma are beacons of hope and spiritual guidance.

Because of you, David's journey with EmPowered Living’s ELIM Theological Institute has been nothing short of transformative, equipping him with training in the Word and power of the Spirit, leadership, and the knowledge and tools to lead his community toward humanitarian action.

Before joining ELIM Theological Institute, Pastor Ouma attended two other Bible schools, but their teachings left him confused and disillusioned. “They taught us doctrines of African tradition that were not based on Scripture,” he recalls.

“Women had to sit on the left side, and men had to sit on the right side of our meetings. Men had to come to church with a scarf on their heads. At ELIM, we were taught only things in the Bible.”

The contrast between ELIM’s teachings and the traditional beliefs he had encountered was striking. “The other schools called themselves Bible schools, but what they taught us was not in the Bible! At ELIM, we are strictly taught from the Scriptures as the Word of God.”

In Kenya, where economic challenges and environmental factors like excessive rainfall have led to poor harvests and food insecurity, Pastor Ouma’s role as a trained and empowered spiritual leader has become even more crucial.

“Here in our country, many people suffer because of a poor economy,” he explains. “We need much prayer. Because of too much rain, there was a poor harvest on the farms last year. There is a lack of food.”

Armed with the sound Biblical education he received because of your generosity, Pastor Ouma and his fellow trained pastors now offer their communities a powerful gospel of hope. “As trained pastors, we now have a gospel of hope learned from ELIM. This is powerful when people are hopeless.”

The impact of their ministry is profound, as Pastor Ouma shares, “This helps people here, who without hope, kill themselves and even their children. Because we have training now, we always offer counseling to them. The people who listen to our teachings are encouraged and live overcoming lives.”

Through the transformative power of your giving, Pastor David Ouma has become a true agent of change, bringing the light of Biblical truth and the hope of the gospel to a nation in need.

Pastor Ouma's story is really your story!

Thank you!
